In response to the growing number of students in MCPS, Superintendent Jerry Weast has proposed a $1.49 billion, six-year plan to build two new schools and expand nine others. As economic recession continues affecting the county, many parents are transferring their children from private to public schools.

As young adults in today's digital age, students embrace new technologies faster than they can come out. Montgomery County strives to make the fullest of technology in its education system, so that any implements will have a positive net effect on MCPS progress. In an interview, Student Member of the Board Tim Hwang disclosed information regarding MCPS’s upcoming Wi-Fi plan.
